Patience 'Ovo Okhuofu
Director/Producer/Cinematographer/Fashion & Graphic Designer
Born in Benin City, Nigeria, Patience ‘Ovo Okhuofu spent much of her teenage life singing, dancing, acting and designing hence it was no surprise that she went on to study Theatre Arts at the University of Benin, Nigeria.
Patience migrated to the United States, applied and was admitted to Montclair State University to continue her studies. Upon graduating from MSU with a BFA in Theatre Arts, she went on to enlist in the United States Army where she trained and worked as a Multimedia Illustrator. She was later assigned the additional duties of Public Affairs representative as well as Visual Information Recorder.
In 2014, she was Honorably discharged after serving in both Active duty and the Army Reserve. Her professionalism and hard work earned her several awards including the Army Commendation Medal, 1st Place - Category Q, Print Division (Forces Command, 4th Estate Award), 3rd Place - Category P, Print Division (Forces Command, 4th Estate Award).
In 2016, she was admitted to New York Film Academy where she studied Filmmaking. Upon completion of the Program, Patience went on to enroll in Cinematography. She graduated from the Cinematography Program in October, 2017. In 2019 she went back to School to study Animation and Visual Effects.
She has Directed and Produced several Short Films - Break In Transmission (2016), Idia - The Idah War (2017), CELL (2017), Apple (2017), Are You Okay? (2018). “ Idia - The Idah War” (a proof of concept for QUEEN IDIA) was selected and Screened at a couple of Film Festivals. It also screened in New Jersey and Toronto and she Directed and Co-Produced "When Love Hurts", a Feature Film. She was also a Co-Writer / Cinematographer in "When Love Hurts".
Patience has worked in various Crew Positions. She was the Cinematographer of the Award winning Short Film, “49 Years After - The Gifted”, Assistant Director in the Award winning Film, “Like Father, Like Son”, Key Grip, “A Life in the Day of Who”.
She is married and blessed with two children.
