Sade Oyinade
Producer, Director. Writer
Sade Oyinade is a director, producer and writer based in Los Angeles. She is most known for her work on the award-winning TV One hit series Unsung where for 10 seasons she wrote and produced one-hour documentaries profiling prominent musicians, contributing to an unprecedented visual library of Black music. She garnered six NAACP Image Awards with the series. Sade recently produced a film on mental health called Black Girl Erupted for BET Her. Prior to that, she was Co-Showrunner and writer for two seasons of the popular comedy series For the Love of Jason. In 2019, Sade served as Co-Showrunner of American Gangster: Trap Queens, a crime docu-series for BET+. There she oversaw production of 10 in-depth episodes on notorious female criminals.
Sade’s foundation began with producing unscripted content but over the years she’s transitioned to writing and directing. Sade wrote and directed the cultural family short film Yemi's Dilemma which won Best Narrative Film at Black Cinema International Berlin.Before that, she directed a short about HIV/AIDS in the Black teen community called Who Do You Know? which aired on ASPIRE TV. Actress and AIDS activist Sheryl Lee Ralph presented Sade with a special award for artistic activism in raising awareness about AIDS with the film. Sade also directed episodes of various digital series including two episodes of CON$equences. In 2019, she co-wrote and co-produced the provocative short film on gun violence, First Day Back, starring Loretta Devine and Aisha Hinds, with producing partner Deshawn Plair. The acclaimed film won Best Narrative Short at the International Black Film Festival and aired on Amazon and ALLBLK. In 2020 and 2021, Sade co-wrote short-films on issues affecting Black women for BET Her.
A first-generation Nigerian-American, Sade’s culture and experience have greatly shaped her point of view, and she aims to highlight this different side of American life in her work.
