Silas Mwenda was born in Meru city, Kenya, to Kenyan parents Zachary Muriuki and Rebecca Mukoiti .He was raised in Meru and went to his early schooling in Meru before he moved to Nairobi, Kenya for his University education. Silas Mwenda always had a huge passion in arts especially in singing and acting .He sang in his church choir and always did short plays which were always well received by audiences. He always participated in school drama and music festival competition where he always impressed the judges and won awards. After moving to Nairobi, in [2007] Silas Mwenda was discovered and signed by Nairobi based African biggest record label Ogopa Deejays, as a solo artiste where he recorded his debut single ' Nakuhitaji ' Swahili word meaning 'I need You' which topped charts in East and central Africa upon its release and won many awards including at the prestigious Talanta Africa Awards[2012] .While signed at Ogopa Deejays , Silas also was very active in his acting career, auditioning and performing numerous plays at the Kenya National theatre and Phoenix theatre based in Nairobi, alongside renowned Kenyan thespians and Actors , Brian Omollo , Ian Mbugua , and Oscar winning Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong'o where he staged popular Kenyan High school literature books including the River and the source ,The burdens, and Shamba La Wanyama among others. In 2014,Silas Moved to the US for greener pastures and to follow his passion in arts where he booked his debut role Mr. Gower in the film 'Love Lily which was a huge success and won awards in film festivals across US the same year. He also, played Doctor Jake in Netflix Drama , Our Souls at Night Starring Jane Fonda and Robert Redford, Store Manager in the Horror Film Ryde or Die -Amazon [2018] , Elsie Goes Walking [2019] Innocent man -Short Film [2018], Scammer #1 in award winning feature film ' To Be You '[2017], And Scene. - Short Film [2019], Furious Five film [2020] and his Short film 'Thou Shall Pump' where he played the role of Hypnotist [2022].
